THE RACE - ISSUE 9
Good Programming: We love TV!
Almost everyone in the world likes
to watch television. Sports. News. Movies. A favorite comedy show.
Television impacts our lives and even helps to shape our view of the world
and ourselves.
It is a powerful tool.
It alters cultures. It
births new ideas in peoples' minds. It is a door into the hearts and lives
of entire nations.
John, the follower of Jesus, once wrote:
"And
this is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is
Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all." (I John 1:5)
In Algeria,
the spiritual darkness is giving way to God's Light! And for many Algerian
Arabs, they are receiving the Light through the "light" of their
television!
Across Algeria, and all of North Africa, tens of thousands of
homes and apartments have television satellite dishes. They dot the
landscape, all pointed to the heavens receiving signals from
afar.
Channel North Africa (CNA) is broadcasting Christian programming
in Algerian Arabic into the country. People view heartfelt testimonies
of believers, hear the Gospel clearly and passionately presented, and are
able to write the station for more information about Jesus and
Christianity. These Christian television broadcasts are reaching into
Algeria- impacting areas where Christian workers can not go. The majority of
the people are illiterate. For most of them, this is their first opportunity
to hear the Gospel message in a language that they understand!
Praise
God for His creativity and providence!
Please, pray that CNA's programs
will speak to many hearts in Algeria. Pray that the Gospel seeds from CNA's
broadcasts will be planted in fertile hearts.
