THE RACE - ISSUE 21
The Straight Path
The first "Sura" (or chapter) of the Qur'an
reads:
In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful, Praise be to
God, The Lord of the Worlds, Most Gracious, Most Merciful, Master of
the Day of Judgment. Thee do we worship, And Thine aid we seek. Show us
the straight path, The way of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy
Grace, Those whose portion is not wrath, and who go not astray.
This
is the "Fatiha" (or "Opening") to the Qur'an. The Qur'an is the holy book
for about a fifth of the world's population and about 100 percent
of Algeria's. In this "Sura" of praise, the worshipper encounters
God's awesome power- the power to create and to sustain the universe. He
is also confronted with God's mercy and wrath.
Then in an instant,
the worshipper becomes a petitioner.
"Show us the straight
path!"
The cry of his heart is to know the path of God, the way to life
and light. It is like when Thomas asked Jesus, "Lord, . . . how do we know
the way?" Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no
one comes to the Father, but through Me." (John 14:5-6)
HE is the
WAY!!! HE is the STRAIGHT PATH!!! Jesus is the way to life and light for
He IS both life and light.
Many Algerians are sincerely seeking God and
His way. They simply do not know the answer to their prayers is Jesus
Christ. They are in bondage to the religious system of Islam and its
teachings.
Yet, we (and Algeria) have the promise of Jesus. "But seek
first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added
to you.." (Matthew 6:33)
Please, pray for the multitudes of
Algerians who are sincerely seeking God that they would find Him in Christ
Jesus, and in Him, life and light. Pray that God would indeed show them
"The Straight Path!"
Until all may hear-
