THE RACE - ISSUE 22
The Promise

God's Word is full of wonder promises for us to claim.  The promise of God's presence.  The promise of eternal life in Christ.  The promise of the fulfillment of the Great Commission.  The promise of a new heaven and a new earth.  If we read closely and carefully, we can discover more riches deep within His Word.

I particularly enjoy one verse of Scripture because of its exciting and powerful imagery for the people of Algeria.  It is Isaiah 42:10.  In English, it reads,

"Sing to the Lord a new song, Sing His praise from the end of the earth! You who go down to the sea, and all that is in it. You islands and those who dwell on them."

So, what's the great promise or spiritual meaning for Algeria???

Well, the word "Algeria" is an Arabic word (pronounced "al-jaza'ir") meaning "the islands."   The country was given this name long ago as an ancient regional description.

Thus, for all you Arabic scholars out there, Isaiah 42:10 can be translated from Arabic into English as,

"Sing to the Lord a new song, Sing His praise from the end of the earth! You who go down to the sea, and all that is in it. And all you who dwell in ALGERIA!!!"

And indeed, many of the inhabitants of "the islands"-of ALGERIA-- will sing to the Lord and praise His name throughout eternity!

Please, pray for the fulfillment of Isaiah 42:10 to be realized in the hearts and lives of Algerians today.

Until all may hear-
