Friday
In Islamic tradition, Friday is the holiest day of the week. Men and women
are encouraged to go to the mosque for Friday prayers, especially for the
sermon by the Iman at noon. Normally, Muslims are allowed to pray wherever
they wish during the week, or at a "masjid" (prayer room) or at the local
"mosque". But this special time on Friday is meant to be an opportunity to
show their solidarity together as Muslims. One common belief. One common
practice.
This year, Friday's have a special meaning to us as Christians
and as intercessors on behalf of Algeria and all of North Africa. Our
North African brothers and sisters have dedicated this year as "The Year
of Prayer for North Africa."
This year you have the opportunity to
join with North African Christians as they fast the first Friday of each
month. Use this time to beseech the Father of Lights to shine His glory upon
all in Algeria and North Africa. You can use pass issues of "The RACE" as a
prayer guide or contact us for specific ways to prayer for Algeria.
North Africa is changing and new doors of opportunity are opening
all the time.
This is the year.
This is our
prayer.
Algeria forever changed. The Church expanding. The Light
shining brightly.
Join us for the Friday Prayer!
