This summer, thousands of Jesus films were distributed
personally to Algerian Arabs in Europe by Christian volunteers. Many took
these films home to be viewed by their families and friends. This film is an
excellent resource for Algerian Arabs to hear the real story of Jesus in
their heart language, Algerian Arabic. Pray that as they listen to the words
of Jesus in their own dialect, their hearts would not be hardened to Him.
Ask that this film spread throughout the entire region, flooding the land of
Algeria with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

|
Father, move in the hearts and minds of the Algerian Arabs who
have received the Jesus film. Transform their attitude towards You from
skepticism or indifference to interest and belief. Pray that there will be
no hindrances to viewers’ understanding of the message of this film.

Praise God for the Christian training center that has been
established in Algeria. Through these training opportunities, Christians
develop their understanding of the role of the church through in-depth Bible
study and they deepen their faith through fellowship with like-minded
brothers and sisters. We pray that there will be no hindrances politically,
financially, and spiritually to the further development of and participation
in these training sessions. We await the Holy Spirit to raise up strong
leaders for the Algerian Arab church through this center.

|
God Almighty, You alone can keep Satan from destroying the
success of the Christian training centers in Algeria. I bring my Algerian
brothers and sisters to your throne as I ask for their growth in the Family.
Be real to them each day, strengthening them in their walk with You. Please
take away all obstacles to them receiving the training that they need in
order to further Your church among Algerian Arabs.

Algiers, located on the Mediterranean Sea is home to over 3
million people and the capital of Algeria. Algiers is indeed a gateway city
to the Algerian people in that it is the heartbeat of Algeria. Pray that
President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, as well as other government leaders, will
allow a Christian witness to be present in this city of influence.

Dear Father, move in the hearts and minds of Algeria’s lawmakers,
courts, customs agents, and political leaders so that they allow true
religious freedom in Algeria. May Algiers be a gateway to Christianity and a
place of liberty for those in pursuit of Jesus Christ.

Ramadan is a time for Muslims to show one’s devotion to
Allah. They fast daily for 28 days, pray regularly at home or at the Mosque,
and give money to the poor during this time. Many Muslims practice these
disciplines with the false hope that it will gain them a better place in the
afterlife. Much of Islam is an exercise in spiritual credits and debits,
with no assurance that your good deeds will outweigh your sins. Ask that the
Algerian Arabs will learn that the Father wants a relationship with them,
not obedience to a system to rules.
|
|
|
|
|
Lord, please help Christians and Christian workers among the
Algerian Arabs demonstrate that life can be free of legalism and an empty
pursuit of self-righteousness. Please help them show Muslim friends, family,
and neighbors that true devotion to You comes through a personal knowledge
of Your Son, the Savior of the world.

The present circumstances in our world have brought much
attention to the Islamic world. Muslims are seen daily in the news, as we
are presented with their traditions, religious beliefs, and worldview. Many
Muslims practice Islam because of family tradition. We, as Christians, know
that following religious rituals is not the path to redemption and the
Lordship of Jesus-Christ. Pray that the 28 million Muslim Algerian Arabs who
are blinded by religious customs and laws, will realize that they need a
relationship with the living God.

|
|
Thank you, God, that you called me personally to salvation
through your Son. There are millions in Algeria that don’t know the
wonderful relationship that I have with you. Please speak to them by your
Spirit, impressing on them their need to know the Savior. Show them that
through your grace, there is freedom from the bondage of sin and laws.

The past ten years have caused many in Algeria to be
discouraged and disillusioned with Islam. In the face of radical
expressions of Islamic fundamentalism, scores of nominal Muslims are
questioning what does it mean to be Muslim and what is the essence of their
faith. Questioning long-held beliefs . . .
|
|
|
|
|
Lord, as people leave their religious traditions, give them an
ear to hear and understand the gospel. Let them encounter your truth through
Christian media efforts, the Bible in their heart language, and other
Christians that they encounter personally.

In Ramadan, as people go without food, they are reminded of
the life-giving qualities of bread. In the Arab world, bread is THE staple
food. In a sense, bread is life. In fact, in some countries the word Arabs
use for bread is “life.” Even when bread is old, they cannot bear to throw
it away. Bread is revered as holy by the older generation – to the point of
kissing the bread, touching it to the forehead, and holding it up to God in
gratitude. In John 6:25-59, Jesus talks about bread. He said, “I am the
living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he
will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of
the world.” (John 6:51) He is the bread of life.

Dear Creator, let the people of Algeria know of Jesus’ life that
was given for them so that they can live. Make a way for them to taste the
Bread of Life and be freed from their continual struggle of spiritual
hunger. Let them hunger only for Your Son and know that Jesus, alone, can
satisfy them.

Algerian-born believers living in Europe know a freedom to
practice their Christianity that their brothers and sisters in Algeria do
not share. Some Algerian Christians living in Europe feel an intense calling
from the Lord to leave Europe and live in Algeria in order to minister
better among their own people. A move in-country requires giving up their
job or studies in Europe and finding work in Algeria. To expand the ministry
there, they will need to get resources such as books, workbooks, Bibles, and
media materials easily through customs. Pray that the obstacles will be few.
|
|
|

|
Father, I pray for your protection over these Algerians who
desire to leave their life of freedom in Europe to minister in the more
restricted country of Algeria. Please make a way for them to support
themselves and a new ministry in Algeria. Bring people across their path to
whom they can minister and use their lives constantly to glorify you. When
they arrive to Algeria, let the customs agents allow them to pass through
with Christian materials. I pray that you block all of the enemy’s schemes
that keep them from ministering among their people.
