What is Man…?
“What is man that Thou art mindful of him?” God’s high point of creation was not the Sun, the stars, or the animal kingdom- but humanity. Have you ever wondered WHY God created people? The answer would be best summarized in the word “Relationship.”
But did He NEED relationship with an “other” than Himself?
Was He lonely and therefore decided that He would make a universe to give Himself companions? This view is not a Christian view.
Was He not perfectly complete in His relationship with Himself? Yes, of course. Central to the Christian revelation is that the heart of God Himself is dynamic relationship: the Trinity- Father, Son, Holy Spirit.
On this basis, He does not NEED to create. Then, why create mankind?
He creates as an act of extravagance and delight. Perhaps a parallel question is why do couples who have financial security decide to have children? There is no need in the sense of the children being needed to provide for the parents. But there is delight in creating as an expression of love.
As we approach Easter this week, please, remember your place in God’s heart. He made you because of His grace and saved you through His grace.
And remember that God created all Algerians for the same relationship He enjoys with you. Pray that they too may truly come to know the Creator this Easter season.
