Algeria plane crash kills 102
On Thursday, an Air Algerie passenger jet crashed shortly after takeoff in
southern Algeria, killing 102 people on board. One person survived. The
Boeing 737 crashed after taking off from the town of Tamanrasset bound for
the Algerian capital, Algiers, 1,600 kilometers (990 miles) to the north.
Terrorism was not suspected. "There was a mechanical problem on takeoff,"
airline officials said. "There is no element that leads us to think there
was a terrorist attack."
Witnesses at the Tamanrasset airport and airline officials said one of the
plane's two jet engines caught fire as it was taking off.
Please, pray for the families affected by this tragedy. Pray that the Spirit
of God will minister to them in this time of sorrow. Pray that they may come
to know Him personally.
