Prayer
| 1 |
Preparations are being made for the 2005 summer port distribution project, Project Northern Lights. Pray that, in spite of less volunteer participation this summer, more North African travelers will receive the films, Bibles, and other materials than received them last year.

Radio and
television broadcasts into Algeria are spreading God’s Word rapidly and
powerfully among those who might not otherwise have access to Jesus’ message.
Last spring, a young man who watched Christian programming by satellite for
three years contacted the television ministry and found a Christian brother
to help answer his questions. Several conversations later, Ali gave his life
to Christ. He shared his decision with his closest friends and 5 of them also
became Christians. Ali and his friends have been sharing boldly with other
friends and feel that they can make a real difference in their town. Ask that
the Spirit guide these new believers in their quest for Biblical knowledge so
that they can mature rapidly in the faith and spread their knowledge
effectively with all those in their circle of influence. Remember, also, the
hundreds who are exposed to the gospel daily through radio and television.

Many of
the men and women that correspond with the radio and television programs are
in need of a sister or brother to help shed light on their questions about
the Bible, the person of Jesus, God’s plan for the world, and so forth. As
they are considering leaving their present religion for Christianity, they
are naturally very encouraged to speak with someone from the same background
that has lived through what they have. Ask that more Christians respond to
God’s calling to reach out to these seekers. Pray also that God provide the
means by which these brothers and sisters can meet those who want to know
more, as many correspondents live in remote places.

This
summer, ports all across Europe will host volunteers, who distribute
Christian literature and audio-visual materials to North Africans traveling
between Europe and North Africa. Pray that these many travelers will accept
these gifts enthusiastically, read the books and Bibles, and watch the
videos. Ask for a great spirit of openness among the travelers to the message
of Jesus Christ.

During the
1990’s, Algeria endured a brutal struggle between the secular government and
Islamic factions. Families lost brothers, fathers, sisters, and mothers
during this time of confusion and torment in which many did not know who to
trust and where to turn. Most did not leave their homes except to go to work
or to shop from local merchants whom they knew well. Children did not play in
the parks and couples did not go out for evening dinners. Fortunately, these
circumstances have much improved in the last 4 to 5 years and Algerians are
enjoying a calmer political and social climate. Friends now go out after dark
to enjoy a coffee together and families crowd the shopping districts and
beaches on the weekends. The government has made great strides in stabilizing
daily life for Algerians. Thank God for this more relaxed climate that
Algerians now enjoy and ask that His Spirit continue to turn politicians and
religious leaders towards providing an atmosphere of peace for Algerians.
Pray that through these progressive years, many will realize the message of
Jesus, who brings ultimate peace. |

Ask God to give the Algerian Arab believers boldness to share the love of Christ with their families and friends.
|
| 7 |
Pray that God will call forth teams of intercessors who will faithfully stand in the gap for the Algerian Arabs.
